What is Botox?

BOTOX Cosmetic is an effective FDA-approved injectable treatment for fine lines and wrinkles. Although there are other neuromodulators, such as Dysport and Xeomin, Botox® Cosmetic is the most widely researched and studied treatment of its kind. All neuromodulators treat dynamic wrinkles, the ones that are formed due to repeated muscle movement, which causes folding and unfolding of the skin. Neuromodulators temporarily stop or reduce targeted muscles’ activity, allowing the skin above them to rest and repair itself. Botox is primarily used to relax fine lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows, on the forehead, and around the eyes. However, the use of neuromodulators has been steadily growing and now includes correcting gummy smiles, reducing bunny lines, smoker lines, and marionette lines, as well as facial slimming.

For our new clients, consultation is an integral part of the appointment, where we perform facial analysis, discuss all the nuances, and answer your questions. Once the injection is done, it takes 3-5 days to start noticing the result. New clients are encouraged to return in 2 weeks for a follow-up appointment. By then, the Botox effect is usually settled, and it is an ideal time to discuss the result and determine whether a touch-up is needed. Botox effect peaks at about one month after the injection. Then, little by little, the movement starts to come back. After 3-4 months, it is time to repeat the treatment.

What is the Pricing of Botox Injections?

Botox is priced at $12 per unit. The dosage for each facial area is individualized and based on your facial features and the desired effect. In addition, Cataleya Aesthetics offers an outstanding Membership Program where one of the perks is Botox, priced at $11 per unit.

How does Botox work?

Botox® Cosmetic is derived from botulinum neurotoxin. It is designed to target one of the underlying causes of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines — the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling, and raising the eyebrows over the years. Botox Cosmetic blocks signal from the nerves to the facial muscles in the injection area, decreasing their activity. When muscle activity is reduced, fine lines and wrinkles relax, skin gets smoother, and your appearance becomes refreshed and youthful.

At what age should I start Botox?

It might be beneficial to start your Botox treatments earlier in life, especially if your face is very expressive or tends to tense up in some areas. What should I expect during my Botox Appointment?

Your first Botox appointment will start with a consultation and facial analysis. Botox dosages and injections placement depend on your facial anatomy and desired effect. Once treatment direction is determined, we create a plan and have you sign the necessary paperwork. “Before” photographs are taken for your file. An ice pack is applied to the injection area. Skin is prepared by cleansing, disinfecting, and marking it for symmetry. After that, your provider will proceed with Botox injections while explaining every step. If you are a new client, your injector will encourage a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks where results can be assessed and touch up done if necessary. We always ask our clients if their results can be shared on our website, social media, and in educational case studies. Our clients’ identities can be protected per request. There is no pressure, and we completely understand if the answer is “No.”

Does the treatment hurt?

Some patients report that being injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic feels like a pinch. Your specialist may use an ice pack and other comfort measures to numb the treatment area.
