How Does Microneedling Work?
Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a proven technique to naturally restore skin quality. Collagen and elastin are the key structural proteins that keep skin firm, smooth, and elastic. Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulates your body’s natural healing process — increasing collagen and elastin production by up to 400%.

Which microneedling device is used at Cataleya Aesthetics?
We use the CosmoPen (France) — a high-speed, medical-grade device with adjustable depth and precision control. It uses sterile, disposable tips small enough to reach even delicate areas, ensuring consistent results and safety.
Is microneedling with CosmoPen painful?
Most clients experience minimal discomfort. A topical numbing cream is applied about 25 minutes before treatment. For lighter, more superficial treatments (such as chemical peel + microneedling combos), numbing may not be necessary.
Am I a candidate for CosmoPen Microneedling?
Microneedling is suitable for all skin types and can address a wide range of concerns, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Acne scars and stretch marks
- Uneven texture or tone
- Mild pigmentation
Contraindications: active acne breakout, cold sores, open wounds, infection, eczema, psoriasis, scleroderma, or severe keloidal tendencies.
Can microneedling help with hair restoration?
Yes. Microneedling improves blood circulation and nutrient absorption in the scalp, stimulating hair follicles and collagen production for stronger, healthier hair growth.
How long is the downtime?
Downtime is minimal. Mild redness and tenderness may last 1–3 days, followed by light dryness or flaking for about a week.Avoid makeup for 24 hours and use gentle skincare, sunscreen, and ample hydration afterward.
When will I see results?
You’ll start to notice visible improvement within 2 weeks after your first session.
For acne scars, pigmentation, or deeper textural concerns, a series of 3–5 treatments spaced every 4 weeks is typically recommended.For anti-aging maintenance, microneedling every 3–4 months helps keep collagen production active and skin smooth year-round.
What should I do before my treatment?
- Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen for at least 2 weeks prior
- Discontinue topical irritants (retinoids, acids, etc.) 1 week before
- Avoid blood-thinning medications 1 week before, if medically permitted
- Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face
What should I expect during my treatment?
- Your provider will review your goals and ensure your comfort
- Skin will be cleansed with a medical-grade antiseptic
- Topical numbing cream is applied for approximately 25 minutes
- After removing numbing cream, skin is disinfected and microneedling begins
- Customized serums, PRF, or other active ingredients are infused during treatment
What should I expect after my treatment?
- Treatment may conclude with a collagen mask, Oxygen Dome, or LED light therapy
- Skin may appear pink or tight for 1–3 days
