What are spider veins?

Spider veins are a cosmetic symptom of vascular damage. They tend to run in families and can be exacerbated by hormonal fluctuations, lifestyle factors, and trauma. The spider-like, reddish-purple veins develop when one-way valves inside them weaken and blood pools. The weakening causes blood to accumulate and vessels to dilate, which makes them visible.

What are vascular lesions?

Vascular lesions are abnormalities in the skin and underlying tissues that result from the collection or malformations of tiny blood vessels. Some vascular lesions are birthmarks. Different vascular lesions include angiomas, hemangiomas, telangiectasia, and port-wine stains.

The overall timing of the appointment depends on how extensive the vein or vein network is. The treatment area will look pink and feel tender for a few days. After your treatment, it is recommended to restrict activities that bring blood flow to the skin, such as exercise or sitting in a jacuzzi tub, for at least a week after your procedure. This will minimize skin irritation and prevent collapsed vessels from reopening. In addition, treated areas should stay out of sunlight and be protected with sunblock with SPF.
